How to assemble a ride-on toy car

• Cross-head screwdriver
• Small spanner
• Hammer for wheel caps (if used)

Before you start, lay everything out on a soft surface (the flattened box works) and check it against the parts list in your manual.

• Car body
• Wheels, washers, axle pins and caps
• Steering wheel and column bolt
• Seat and seat belt
• Windscreen, mirrors and stickers
• Battery, charger and parental remote

   Step 1: Put the battery on charge first for the time the manual gives for the first charge; do not over- or under-charge it.

   Step 2: Fit the rear wheels onto the drive axles, lining up with the motor gearbox, then add the washers and axle pins and tap on the caps.

   Step 3: Fit the front wheels the same way and check all four spin freely.

   Step 4: Push the steering wheel onto the column, connect its wiring plug if it has buttons, and fix it with the bolt.

   Step 5: Fit the windscreen, mirrors and seat, then fix the seat belt.

   Step 6: Connect the battery plug and pair the parental remote as the manual describes.

   Step 7: Test drive empty on flat ground at the lowest speed, checking forward, reverse and stopping.

• Skipping the first full charge.
• Wheels not engaged on the gearbox, so the car will not drive.
• Leaving stickers and small parts within reach of toddlers.
