How to assemble a kids kick scooter

• Allen key (supplied)
• Small spanner

Before you start, lay everything out on a soft surface (the flattened box works) and check it against the parts list in your manual.

• Deck with wheels and rear foot brake
• Steering column or T-bar
• Handlebar grips
• Height clamp or push-button lock
• Folding latch (if foldable)

   Step 1: Unfold the scooter if it folds, and push the folding latch until it clicks fully locked; you should not be able to fold it by pulling on the bar.

   Step 2: Push the steering column or T-bar into its socket until the spring button clicks through the hole, or tighten its clamp with the Allen key.

   Step 3: Fit the handlebar grips if they are loose in the box, and check the bar is square to the front wheel.

   Step 4: Set the handlebar height to roughly the child's waist and lock the height clamp or push-button fully.

   Step 5: Press the rear foot brake down and check it rubs the back wheel firmly, and spin each wheel to make sure it turns freely.

   Step 6: Let the child try it on flat ground with a helmet on, and check the height and locks again after the first ride.

• Leaving the folding latch half locked, so the scooter folds while riding.
• Setting the handlebar too high, which makes the scooter hard to steer.
• Not pushing the column button fully through its hole.
