How to assemble a table tennis table

• Spanners (supplied)
• Allen keys
• Cross-head screwdriver
• Spirit level

Before you start, lay everything out on a soft surface (the flattened box works) and check it against the parts list in your manual.

• Two table-top halves
• Undercarriage frames and legs
• Wheels with brakes
• Fold locks and safety latches
• Net and post set
• Bolts, nuts and corner protectors

   Step 1: Build the undercarriage on the floor first: legs, cross frames and the wheels, with the braked wheels where the manual shows.

   Step 2: Fit the folding arms and the fold locks, starting all bolts by hand before tightening.

   Step 3: Lay each table-top half face down on the box cardboard and fit its frame brackets and corner protectors.

   Step 4: With two people, lift each half onto the undercarriage and bolt it to the folding arms.

   Step 5: Fold each half up and down once to check the safety latch catches every time.

   Step 6: Unfold the table, adjust the leg levellers until the playing surface is level across both halves and the centre joint is flush.

   Step 7: Clamp the net posts to the centre line and tension the net to the height the manual gives.

• Lifting a half onto the frame alone.
• Skipping the safety-latch check before letting children play.
• Tightening one side fully before the other, so the halves do not meet flush.
