How to assemble a ladder shelf

• Cross-head screwdriver
• Allen key (supplied)
• Pencil
• Wall fixings to suit your wall

Before you start, lay everything out on a soft surface (the flattened box works) and check it against the parts list in your manual.

• Two leaning uprights
• Shelves in graded depths
• Shelf screws or bolts
• Wall bracket or strap
• Anti-slip floor pads

   Step 1: Lay the shelves out from deepest to shallowest; the deepest always goes at the bottom, and the manual usually numbers them.

   Step 2: Stick the anti-slip pads to the feet of both uprights before assembly, while they are easy to reach.

   Step 3: Lay one upright on the floor and screw each shelf to it loosely in order, with the front edge of every shelf facing the same way.

   Step 4: Place the second upright on top, start all its screws, then tighten both sides so the shelves sit level.

   Step 5: Stand the ladder against the wall at the angle the uprights are cut for, so the feet sit flat on the floor.

   Step 6: Mark and fix the wall bracket or strap at the top, using fixings suited to your wall.

• Putting the shelves in the wrong order so they do not sit level at the lean angle.
• Standing it too upright or too far out, so the feet rest on an edge and can slide.
• Relying on the lean alone without a wall fixing.
