How to assemble a wardrobe with hinged doors

• Allen key (supplied)
• Cross-head screwdriver
• Small hammer
• Tape measure
• Spirit level

Before you start, lay everything out on a soft surface (the flattened box works) and check it against the parts list in your manual.

• Top, bottom, sides and plinth
• Back panel
• Doors, concealed hinges and mounting plates
• Shelves, hanging rail and rail brackets
• Cam locks, dowels, screws and anti-tip fitting

   Step 1: Screw the hinge mounting plates and the hanging rail brackets to the side panels while they are still flat.

   Step 2: Build the carcass on its back: base and plinth first, then the sides, then the top, locking each cam lock.

   Step 3: Square the carcass by measuring the diagonals and fix the back panel along every edge.

   Step 4: With a helper, walk the wardrobe upright and move it into place, then check it is level.

   Step 5: Press the hinge cups into the holes in the doors and screw them in.

   Step 6: Hang each door by clipping or screwing the hinge arms onto the mounting plates.

   Step 7: Use the hinge adjustment screws to set the gaps: one screw moves the door sideways, another in and out, and the plate adjusts height.

   Step 8: Fit the shelves, hanging rail and handles, then fix the wardrobe to the wall.

• Tightening the hinge cup screws before the door is lined up.
• Levelling the doors with the hinges when the floor, not the door, is out of level.
• Putting the hanging rail too low for long coats.
