How to assemble a standing desk converter

• Allen key (supplied)
• Cross-head screwdriver

Before you start, lay everything out on a soft surface (the flattened box works) and check it against the parts list in your manual.

• Converter base with lift mechanism
• Work surface or monitor platform
• Keyboard tray and its screws
• Rubber feet or non-slip pads

   Step 1: With two people, lift the converter out of its box by the base, not by the top surface, and keep it in its lowest locked position.

   Step 2: Place it on the desk on a clean, flat area and check it sits fully on the desk with no feet hanging over the edge.

   Step 3: Screw the keyboard tray to the front brackets with the supplied screws, tightening them evenly left and right.

   Step 4: Put your monitor and keyboard on, keeping the heavier screen centred and toward the back.

   Step 5: Squeeze the release handle and let the top rise with a hand on it, then set it at elbow height when standing.

   Step 6: If the manual allows, adjust the lift tension so the top neither shoots up nor sinks with your load on it.

   Step 7: Route cables with enough slack for the full rise, so nothing pulls a screen off when the top goes up.

• Letting go of the top when releasing it with no load on, so it springs up fast.
• Putting the converter on a desk edge or glass top that cannot take its weight.
• Leaving cables tight, so they drag the monitor or snag in the scissor arms.
