How to assemble a kids table and chairs
A kids table and chair set is small and light, but it is used by children who rock, climb and stand on it. The work is fixing the legs so they cannot unscrew, and checking there are no gaps, sharp edges or loose caps that could hurt small fingers.

- Allen key (supplied)
- Cross-head screwdriver
- Fine sandpaper
Parts to check first
Before you start, lay everything out on a soft surface (the flattened box works) and check it against the parts list in your manual.
- Tabletop and four legs
- Chair seats, backs and legs
- Bolts, washers and screw caps
- Leg brackets or hanger bolts
Step by step
Step 1: Lay the tabletop face down on a rug and screw each leg into its corner bracket or hanger bolt until it is fully home.
Step 2: Turn the table upright and check it sits level; a rocking table often means one leg is not screwed in all the way.
Step 3: Build each chair with the back and seat joined first, then the legs, tightening the bolts once the chair stands square.
Step 4: Press every screw cap firmly into place so no bolt heads or sharp edges are left showing.
Step 5: Run a hand over every edge and under the seat; lightly sand any splinter or rough spot.
Step 6: Sit on each chair and rock it gently to check nothing creaks or shifts.
Common mistakes
- Leaving screw caps loose, which small children can pull out and put in their mouths.
- Over-tightening screws in soft wood so they strip.
- Not re-tightening legs after a few weeks of use.
Safety notes
- Keep the small parts bag away from children during assembly; screw caps and washers are a choking risk.
- Follow the maker's age range and weight limit for the chairs, and do not let children stand on the table.
