How to assemble an accent chair

• Allen key (supplied)
• Clean blanket or the carton to work on

Before you start, lay everything out on a soft surface (the flattened box works) and check it against the parts list in your manual.

• Upholstered seat base
• Backrest
• Legs, with or without threaded studs
• Back bolts and washers
• Arms, if separate

   Step 1: Set the seat upside down on a clean blanket and feel through the dust cover for the leg plates or threaded holes.

   Step 2: Screw each leg in by hand until it seats flat on its plate, then give it a final snug turn without forcing it.

   Step 3: Turn the chair onto its feet and locate the back brackets; some slide down into slots, others bolt through.

   Step 4: Lower the backrest onto the seat, then start every back bolt by hand with a washer before tightening any of them.

   Step 5: Tighten the back bolts in a cross pattern so the backrest sits evenly, then fit and bolt the arms if your chair has separate ones.

   Step 6: Sit in the chair, rock it gently, and re-tighten any bolt or leg that has settled.

• Cross-threading a leg by forcing it at an angle into the insert.
• Tightening one back bolt fully before the others are started, so the rest will not line up.
• Cutting the dust cover to find a hole instead of feeling for it through the fabric.
