How to assemble a gaming chair

• Allen key (supplied)
• Cross-head screwdriver (sometimes)

Before you start, lay everything out on a soft surface (the flattened box works) and check it against the parts list in your manual.

• Base, castors and gas cylinder
• Seat with tilt mechanism
• Backrest
• Two recline brackets and side covers
• Bolts, washers and armrests

   Step 1: Push the castors into the base and drop the gas cylinder into its centre.

   Step 2: Bolt the tilt mechanism to the underside of the seat, lever side at the front, if it is not already fitted.

   Step 3: Check the backrest bolts: some chairs arrive with the bolts already screwed into the back, and you need to take them out first.

   Step 4: With your helper holding the backrest in line, slide the recline brackets over the back's mounting points and start all bolts by hand.

   Step 5: Tighten the backrest bolts evenly, then clip on the side covers.

   Step 6: Remove the gas cylinder cap and lower the seat onto the cylinder, then sit down to lock it.

   Step 7: Test the recline lever carefully with a hand on the backrest; the back can spring upright.

• Tightening one backrest bolt fully before the others are started, so the rest will not line up.
• Losing the pre-fitted bolts because you did not notice them in the back.
• Using the recline before all backrest bolts are tight.
