How to assemble a tower fan

• Phillips screwdriver
• Two AAA or coin-cell batteries for the remote (check the manual)

Before you start, lay everything out on a soft surface (the flattened box works) and check it against the parts list in your manual.

• Tower body with fixed cord
• Two base halves (or a one-piece base with a cord channel)
• Base screws or locking ring
• Remote control

   Step 1: Lay the tower gently on its back on a clean floor, with the underside facing you, and find the screw holes or bayonet slots on its bottom plate.

   Step 2: Feed the power cord through the hole or notch in one base half, then press the second half against it so the two clip together around the cord.

   Step 3: Settle the cord into the channel moulded underneath the base so it exits at the back and will not trap the base when the fan stands up.

   Step 4: Line the assembled base up with the bottom of the tower, then fit and tighten the supplied screws, or twist the locking ring until it clicks.

   Step 5: Stand the fan upright on a hard, level floor and rock it gently to check the base is tight and does not wobble.

   Step 6: Put batteries in the remote, plug the fan in, and try every speed, mode and the oscillation to be sure nothing rubs or clicks inside.

• Screwing the base on with the cord trapped under it, so the fan rocks and the cord gets pinched.
• Standing it on a thick rug, where the air intake at the back gets blocked.
• Over-tightening screws into the plastic bottom plate and stripping them.
